I found these when housecleaning. They’re drawings from six months prior to the first cut. It must have been between calls at work, and I likely had been daydreaming about what steps it would take. The small drawing looks like my 2015 boat. The large drawing is resembles my first. It shows some traditional techniques I had been thinking about. Going the traditional route would have been fun. It also would have taken ten times the cost and ten times the time. Not feasible with my first child on the way.
These pictures remind me how long it took to commit to the project, and I wonder why it left the doodle paper at all. Looking back, I think it came down to the guess that this boat could be simple and cheap enough for failure to be acceptable.
